For suite renters
Share your suite on the days you're not in it
You pay rent for seven days a week. If you work four, the other three sit empty. List those days on Collectivate for free and let another licensed pro help cover the rent. The typical US suite rents for $175 a week.
What an empty day is worth
$50 / week
About $217 a month, or 29% of your rent, if the days you share go at the daily rate you pay.
Starts at the US median suite rent of $175 a week from the Salon Suite Rent Index.
How it works
1
Check your lease
Most suite leases say whether you can share the space. If yours is silent or says no, ask your location manager for written permission. Many locations allow it for licensed pros.
2
List the days that are free
Add photos, your price and the days you are not in. Pick Sublease as the listing type and confirm you are allowed to share. Listing is free.
3
Meet the pro who fits
Beauty professionals send an inquiry from your listing and the message lands in your inbox. Talk it through, show them the suite, and agree the terms between you.
Before someone works in your suite
Sharing works best when the practical parts are settled up front. This is general guidance, not legal advice. Your lease and your state's rules come first.
- Written permission
- Keep your landlord’s OK in writing, and tell them who will be working in the suite.
- A license for their services
- The person sharing your suite should hold an active license for the services they offer in your state.
- Their own insurance
- Ask for proof of professional liability insurance. Your policy may not cover someone else’s clients.
- Clear house rules
- Agree which days, key or door code access, storage space, product use and cleanup before the first day.
- A simple written agreement
- Put the price, schedule, notice period and deposit in writing. A short agreement prevents most disagreements.
Questions
Can I sublease my salon suite?
It depends on your lease. Many salon suite leases allow subleasing only with the landlord’s written permission, and some do not allow it at all. Check your lease and ask your location before you list. Collectivate asks you to confirm you have permission before a sublease listing can go live.
How much does it cost to list a sublease?
Nothing. Listing a sublease on Collectivate is free, with no commission on the rent you agree.
Can I list only certain days of the week?
Yes. When you choose Sublease as the listing type you pick the days the suite is available, and they show on your listing so professionals only reach out about days that work.
How much should I charge to share my suite?
A common starting point is your own daily rate: your weekly rent divided by seven, times the days you share. Compare with typical rent in your city on the Salon Suite Rent Index, and remember the price is agreed between you and the person sharing.
How do beauty professionals contact me?
They send an inquiry from your listing. It arrives by email with their name, contact details and message, and you reply to them directly.
